I could easily talk about painting for you and drive that topic into the ground in almost every single blog I write. It's something that artists can easily grow to struggle with when they are balancing practice, learning, and commissions. Where does that leave any time for you, right?
But I want to talk about...
...the normal root of the problem rather than just the problem. We don't need a bandaid fix. We need a remedy to ground us and bring us back on track, especially at this time of year. Did you know most people have already quit their resolutions for the year or will shortly? And I don't mean "most" as in over 50%...it's "most" as in over 90%.
That's crazy!
Why are we giving up so fast on what mattered to us just a month or a week prior?
I think a lot of it has to do with a loss of meaning behind the goal. What is, or was, your why? Why do you want to learn to paint? Why do you want to work toward creating hand-rendered artwork? Why does art matter to you? Why did you choose art in the first place?
If you don't know at bare minimum the true answers to those questions, you might be setting yourself up for failure. Not having a why, is like trying to grow a plant without any roots. It will look beautiful for a while, but eventually, it will wilt and wither away.
Know your why, find your motivation, and crush your goals!
