Take Courage, Young Artist
"To create one’s own world takes courage." -Georgia O’Keeffe
It’s human nature to search for acceptance. We are social creatures and rely heavily on social interactions. (And yes, it’s true even for introverts.)
Pulling ideas, techniques, and styles from other people’s work isn’t copycatting. It’s learning. And by doing that, you’ll eventually develop your own style of painting.
The question then is, “Will you use it?” Will you allow yourself to blossom and grow? To release your inner artist?
Or will you be too worried about what others think? How different it looks from “the greats?” Will you worry yourself to the point you shrink away from the potential of who you can become?
Even though we need one another, don’t let others, or your fear of their opinions, stop you. Press onward, keep fighting the good fight.
Dare to be different, and be brave enough to be you. Your true advocates will show themselves and be there to help you conquer each challenge.
