Set Yourself Free to the Possibilities
"I often painted fragments of things because it seemed to make my statement as well as or better than the whole could." Georgia O’Keeffe
It's not how Georgia O'Keeffe meant it, but to me, composition is just that. There is a statement I want to make; an emotion I want to convey; a story I want to tell. And nothing seems to be just quite right.
Have you ever faced that struggle?
It is like being caged within your own mind, and the best way to handle being in a cage?
Find a way to set yourself free.
Sometimes, maybe all you need is the ear of a person to paint a beautiful picture that conveys what you're trying to express.
And other times....well...let's just say you'll need ears from one person, hair from another, lips from yet again someone else, and put them on a face that belongs to none of them. Then, throw in a few animals (real and/or imaginary), have background props from at least 7 different sources, and...I think you get my point.
So, when you start to feel trapped by the expectations, open your mind to the possibilities beyond them.
