Set the Tone Through Routine
"Dog owners who are passionate about their pets and their painting enjoy a privilege. Perhaps it is because we have an obligation to get out there and walk... no matter what the elements may bring, the early morning walk sets the tone for the day in the studio." - Adrienne Moore
Whether or not you have a dog, having a routine that "sets the tone" is essential. Even athletes have a routine, such as the one often seen before a free throw.
Artists are exercising their muscles and minds as well. Having a sense of calm overcome you improves brush control and clears your mind to create the image you are after.
Don't have a routine? That's okay! Find something that works for you. Every artist is different. So whether it is exercising, eating a meal, meditating, or something else, find your routine, and elevate your art.
