Practice and Patience
“The holy grail is to spend less time making the picture than it takes people to look at it.” -Banksy
This is something every artist strives for they just may have not heard it put in these exact words. But how do you get there?
Does "practice makes progress" ring any bells? 🔔
Oh yes, the dreaded "do the work" talk. Except, what if I told you that the processes the greatest artists go through in a particular medium are the exact same that the novice artists are learning?
WHAAAATT? 😵
That's right. The process is the same! The tools are the same! The methods are the same! So, what's the difference?
Well, the master artist has done those processes over and over and over again, whereas the novice artist hasn't had that repetition. And boy oh boy, do I know it stinks waiting and practicing to get there! "Patience is a virtue" is a phrase that I started to believe was an excuse for every nearly insufferable length of time I was made to wait by an elder. Then, I grew up and realized it should be a mantra for life. 😅
Becoming an artist isn't something that happens overnight. You have the be patient and practice.
