Experience the Spirit
"It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves, for reality is more important than the feeling for pictures." -Vincent Van Gogh
Have you ever changed your entire style of painting for a particular portrait? It wasn't that you set out to experiment and be different from your tried and true style, but something about the original capture kept pulling you into that experimentation zone.
Sometimes, a capture will speak to you and let you know the tried and true isn't going to cut it. And even when we are in experimentation mode, certain captures jump out to fit that style better than the others you've looked at using.
I'm under the impression that the reason certain captures jump out is because of the essence, or perceived essence, of the person, place, or thing. The mind can interpret deeper than the eye can see. It breaks the subject down to the property that, if it didn't have it, it wouldn't exist.
A painting is so much more than seeing a picture. It is experiencing the spirit.
Hand-painted in Adobe Photoshop CC using the Wacom Intuos Pro and the Wacom Art Pen.
