There are things in life that catch your eye and make you stop in your tracks. It could be something in nature, like a bird gliding across the azure blue sky, or maybe it is a person, like when your child smiles for the first time. These are beautiful occurrences that make us stop in awe and wonder.
But what about art? Does it always stop you in your tracks? My guess? Probably not.

but let me explain. If we stopped to smell every single rose and gaze upon each individual flower, would we ever get anything done? I think I can safely say no to that, and not every flower has the same effect on us.
Art is just like those flowers. Some days, it hits you differently. You may notice paintings that you've ignored or walked by in the past. You may have reduced feelings toward a painting you once adored and couldn't get enough of.
Why?
Because art has meaning!
It's the meaning behind the art and our emotions at that time that draw us in and captivate us. Someone who is your worst critic one day might be your greatest fan the next. It all goes with the ebb and flow.
So, when life gives you lemons,...
...paint a still life. When it gives you critics, paint a portrait. When it gives you anything to feel something about, use your life and your emotions to paint, and you will find other kindred souls that connect with your meaning.
