Have you ever painted outside of your normal style?
Many times, this happens early on in artists' paths toward finding themselves, but once we have "found" ourselves, then we start getting comfortable within our own style. It's easy to get stuck in a rut and take the standpoint of staying within our comfort zone because "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," right?
WRONG!
Though getting settled in your style is important, artists are ever-changing, and trying new things re-ignites that original passion.
While it can be scary to go out on a limb, the worst that can happen is that it breaks. Yes, you might fail, but luckily, in this proverbial tree, you get to decide if you break anything.
Rufus may aim to break your spirit, but it is your choice whether you'll be broken or whether you will climb back up and try again.
So, next time you get the inkling to try something new, do it! Being scared doesn't mean you can't act. It just means it might be a little uncomfortable when you do.
Do it scared. Do it inspired. Do it with passion.
